Life, a four-letter word, but with probably thousands of meanings, definitions aplenty, to each there own, the mother of all concepts that exist out in the world. But what is at the crux of so much knowledge, effort and whatever you want to call, is a simple desire for a good life. You can define your own good life and make efforts for it, however, to some extent our lives are partially a sum of what we do as well, so we are sharing 4 habits that you need to shun for your basic good life.
- Procrastination: This one habit is a pitfall for many of our goals, dreams and aspirations. Our tendency to convince ourselves to delay a task is often why our goals are not met, that extra weight is still hanging around the stomach, and the frustration levels pent up. I don’t know about others, but this habit helps us making a fool out of our own self’s, with “N” number of imaginary hurdles that keep blocking our way. Once you avoid this habit and eventually start doing stuff (whatever it is) you will feel relaxed and relieved. No more imaginary dragons haunting you, your stress levels will go down (which as we all know adversely affects the health), so you’ll be healthier too. Eventually, as they say, it gets done by doing.
- Smoking: Everybody knows smoking is injurious to health, but we still do it. But this one habit is dangerous not just to you but to others who have the misfortune of accompanying you while you do it. We all know it causes cancer, is the top reason for all sorts of lung problems, hampers the life quality, affects the immunity and definitely doesn’t make you look any better as opposed to the belief.
- Inactivity: An empty mind is a devil’s lair. But often it’s difficult to conquer our own mind. Activity can help fill in those places. Apart from that sitting or lying down for long hours, causes bad postures, risks of obesity, hypertension, rise to cardiac problems, and the list can go on. It also affects your mental health, in fact getting physical activity during depression helps lift the sad mood, it produces happy hormones in the body. Besides, it’s far easier getting some or other physical activity included in our day to day activities. Just get off your butt and move around
- Pessimism: Negative thoughts are a hurricane of their own. They have the potential of coming unannounced, uprooting you and hurling you towards hurt and failure. A good life can never be based on pessimism. So yes, positivity will have to find a way in your life, and only you will be able to do that. Others can tell you about it, and even steer you for a while, but you will have to learn to find your own silver linings. Being an optimist doesn’t mean being starry-eyed or being overly optimistic, it just means accepting the hard realities of life and working towards the next phase of your good life being hopeful.
If you can shun these habits, you can certainly achieve the good life of your dreams.
