What is water? Back when I was in school it was a simple answer, probably the only chemical equation I remember well, 2 atoms of hydrogen combined with 1 atom of oxygen and you get water. But now the water’s gone complicated. We were fine when we started with tap water, then came mineral water, so far okay. But now you can write an essay just on types of water, you have got sparkling, tonic, even artesian water. And then these days favorite – flavored water and infused water, and no! they are not the same thing. They are different from one another. Both of them have something added to enhance the flavor and properties, however, flavoured water generally requires addition of juice or artificial components like food acids and flavour for the final product to be obtained, whereas infused water is the delicate art of simply adding any herb or fruit or vegetables to your regular water and let it get soaked and release its natural properties and flavor into the water.
In effect flavored water is kind of like artificial, but infused water is all-natural herbal and healthier. Probably that’s why it’s also called detox water. Beyond the aesthetic appeal and being marketed as trendy and the ‘it’ drink, are there any real benefits to it. Let us diffuse the mystery here:
- Detox water cleanses the body and removes toxins
- Helps all body organs work more effectively and efficiently
- It helps control hunger pangs and improves metabolic and digestive functions. Also aiding or resulting in weight loss
- Makes your skin healthier and glowing
- Some also suggest that it helps balance your ph balance.
Interesting right! Now the truth is except that the last point all the above-mentioned statements are true. But this all is true with plain water as well, as we all know hydration is behind many of our imperative functions, so its obvious drinking any type of water fulfills that function and leads to the above-mentioned scenario.
The only true benefit of infused water is that it makes your water taste of flavors you prefer, making it easier to drink up. Also, amongst all the other variants like flavored water and sugary drinks, this one has the least amount of sugar or calories, hence its closer to the original form and in that context healthier. They are easy and fun to make, and who doesn’t like a colorful array of H20, So you can surely try some h20 and more.
